A little bit of nonsense...
HEMA is a department store in the Netherlands that has one of the most fun, innovative websites (http://producten.hema.nl/) I've ever seen. It's yet another example of what makes marketing so great!

America's favorite playground

Today was a very sad day because it was my first day back from Las Vegas. I'm always glad to be home after a trip because it means I get to sleep in my own bed, get back into my daily routine and come home to friends and family, but somehow it feels a little different today.
Vegas is undoubtedly America's favorite (adult) playground. [And I stress adult here because nothing is a bigger annoyance than the morons who take their kids and babies to Las Vegas on vacation. Wow, thanks Mom and Dad for the worst trip ever!]
I love everything about Las Vegas - the sounds of the slot machines, the big, bright neon lights, the shows, the sex, the booze...every sin wonderfully packaged in Sin City. Even the weather is better there. It's a glimmering mirage, a true oasis. My lust for it this time was that it was the perfect escape from my fear and loathing in Minneapolis. Why come home to job searches and life examination when you can live it up in Vegas? After all, what happens in Vegas....

A++ - Absolutely Amazing & Awesome!
I cannot stop watching the wedding entrance video or Jill & Kevin Heinz. No, unfortunately I do not know them, although I am very proud that they are from MN. I do know that these are my type of people and I hope to have a partner (and a wedding) that is this much fun! This couple will have a lifetime of happiness if they can start their future with this much joy.

A very merry unbirthday to me!
When I first found out about the new Tim Burton "Alice in Wonderland" movie set to premiere in 2010, I immediately reverted back to my preteens. I was, and always will be, a huge Disney fan. Though, in all fairness, nothing can compare to the classics -- classic hand drawn animation and classic story lines.
What a tease to leak images of the new movie. How can a year possibly go by fast enough (though after turning the big 3-0 this year, I can honestly say I'm fine with waiting) when one of my all time favorite Disney movies combines with my favorite actor (swoon) and favorite director? I know, I know...Burton's modeling it after the book...but he did work for Disney once upon a time!

Theater is, of course, a reflection of life. -- W. R. Inge
I LOVE the theater. There is nothing more exhilarating than seeing a live show, no matter what the medium (e.g., music, dance, acting, etc.). You're seeing something special, watching a performance and ultimately sharing a moment with the performer(s) which makes you feel connected, if for a brief moment in time, and if the performance is good. Tonight, thanks to the Hennepin Theatre Trust, I was given 2 tickets to see A Bronx Tale at the State Theatre starring Chazz Palminteri. It was 1 hour 40 minutes of Chazz sharing part of his history, growing up in the Bronx (hence the quote above), and his story is truly amazing.
The following clip is from the Hennepin Theatre Trust website.

Smile! It increases your face value.
I never thought I'd actually see the day where I would have my own blog. I did actually have a (mandatory) blog years ago for a computer class I had at the University of Wisconsin (go Badgers!) -- blogs were new to the scene then and our hippie teacher was "experimenting". Anyway, main point is I thought it was ridiculous at the time. I mean who really cares what I have to say? And do I care about some other stranger's opinions? No, not really, but here I sit...err, type.
Over the years, as MySpace and Facebook and Twitter (though I know nothing about Twittering) have blown onto the scene, I find myself and my "friends" relatively addicted to updates, quizzes, notes, old photo posts, gifts, flair, top 5's, music, events, etc. etc. Don't get me wrong -- I don't plan on deleting my page anytime soon. I love staying in touch with my friends, and it's great finding old ones or adding new ones, but I only friend those I really know.
So why the blog? Well, in a time where the economy is the worst my generation has seen and social media/marketing is climbing, a girl has to do everything in her power to market herself above the others. It's not pretty out there; in fact, it's down right depressing at times, so I plan to focus on the positive here. There are so many fabulous things I love from my childhood to now, and I am constantly finding new and wonderous items to fawn over. So allow my whoring, as it were, to also bring a smile to my face as often as needed. And if no one reads it? No problem. But if you are, 10 points if you knew the title was from "Steel Magnolias", my all time favorite movie...but more on that later.
